The Homeschooler’s Contract

Contract photo

Before we moved to NorCal I took a good survey of the local private schools. I found two that I deemed worthy of even a glance, which upon further inspection, I narrowed down to one. It’s a cute school – tiny, African-centered, intensive, basically everything I’d want in a school. Of course, in the end we decided to continue homeschooling, as I just couldn’t get passed the lack of Christian curriculum. But after speaking with the director and going over the paperwork, I noticed they had the student sign a contract…Brilliance! Continue reading

The New Single is Out!!!

It’s been quiet around the blog lately. You can thank the release of the new album for that. It’s a GIRL!

Milk-C Lyte arrived Wednesday, May 28th (from the beginning I have said that she would show up on or around Memorial Day) at 7:50pm after days of contractions that ended in only 6hrs of “real” labor. Same as the Kidd. Born at 38wks and 1 day she weighed 5lb 12oz and was 18.5″ long. Our little Bitty Baby.

She’s gorgeous and amazing, and a blessing, and we can’t get enough of her. Six weeks out and I still can’t stop staring at her sometimes. The Kidd wants to hold her constantly. FMF is s sucker for her cries. Even the dog spends his days laying near her.

We’ve spent the last 6 weeks just loving on her and working on our new normal. The days are flying by quickly and curriculum boxes are rolling in (there have been some BIG changes in our choices). The Kidd goes off to camp in a few weeks, football season is about to start soon, and I’ve already started back working from home.

In blog news, I’ve opened up an Instagram page just for the blog. So even when I’m not posting here, you can stop on by and see what we’re up to. I’m trying like mad to find a schedule we can all live with, but for now, it’s all I can to roll out of bed before 10 a.m.

Help me out here, people? How long after a baby did it take you to find a new normal?

Planning Your School Year

You’ve been here before. Sweating as you flip through your curriculum and try to figure out what you’re going to do and when. Planning projects, reading assignments, and field trips for the year…Stop it! You’re stressing yourself out!

Preparing for the Album Drop {List It Tuesday}

So…I kind of casually mentioned in a previous post that we’re having a baby come June. I meant THIS June. Possibly sooner, as the Kidd was born at 38 weeks, which would put us at late May. In fact, my guess from the beginning has been that this kid is likely going to bust in on whatever Memorial Day plans we have for this year.

Why do I homeschool? Why DON’T you?

The Kidd is entering 4th grade this year and apparently this is the year people believe that school is getting “serious” and we need to stop “playing around” with his education. Because, you know, middle school starts soon and he’ll never “fit in” because he’ll be weird and unsocialized. He also won’t know how to take standardized tests or learn any decent study skills for high school. I came across this post today from Elizabeth over at Adoption in the Real World and immediately fell in love:
